- Only days after its World Premiere, the BMW X2 will make its inaugural appearance at the Rebelle Rally.
- The 8-day competition covers more than 1,300 miles of challenging terrain.
Woodcliff Lake, NJ – October 12, 2023…BMW of North America is excited to be campaigning the all-new BMW X2 in this year’s Rebelle Rally, the longest off-road rally competition held in the United States. The all-new BMW X2 will be competing in the X-CROSS™ Class and will be driven and navigated by veteran Rebelle Rally competitors Rebecca Donaghe and Sedona Blinson.
The 2023 Rebelle Rally will get underway Thursday, October 12, at the Mammoth Mountain Resort in Mammoth Lakes, CA, and finish Saturday, October 21, in the Imperial Dunes near the Mexican border. The rally encompasses 6 stages and stretches more than 1,300 miles across the harsh and unforgiving deserts of California and Nevada. A first-time competitor in the rally, the BMW X2 faces a tough challenge that will test the vehicle’s endurance and reliability.
“It is the first time that we have entered a BMW into this competition, which is extremely demanding not only on the driver and navigator, but also on the vehicle. We are excited to see how the all-new BMW X2 performs in the hands of these experienced rally competitors.” said Andreas Meyer, Vice President of Product Management at BMW of North America.
For this competition, the BMW X2 has been modified for severe off-road use with the following enhancements:
Rebecca Donaghe (Driver)
“I have competed in a different vehicle for each of my 6 years of the rally. It can be especially challenging to bring a new model you don’t get to train with or even shakedown in the dirt before Day 0, but that’s part of what makes it appealing to me. Those challenges are part of the game, but when the x factor is BMW, the engineering and capabilities are proven and solid – that’s a game changer.”
Sedona Blinson (Navigator)
“Teaming up with BMW for the highly anticipated 2023 Rebelle Rally is a thrilling privilege! This partnership is especially exciting because Rebecca and I get to introduce a new Manufacturer to the Rebelle community and showcase the all-new BMW X2 in this ultimate proving ground. The Rebelle Rally is the perfect stage for BMW to demonstrate their unparalleled performance and engineering prowess, and we cannot wait to see how the BMW X2 will perform in this competition. It truly is an honor to collaborate with such an esteemed brand.”
The 2024 BMW X2 xDrive 28i (MSRP $ 42,000) and BMW X2 M35i (MSRP $51,400) will arrive at BMW dealers across the US in the first quarter of 2024. For the additional information related to the BMW X2, including the full press release please click here.
